American Cuckold

When it comes to cuckold, Americans seem to be much more interested than others.

The reasons behind this may be surprising. Sharing your partner in Europe isn't really considered all that taboo, but whatever is considered taboo in a person's particular culture is more likely to turn them on.

When it comes to cuckolding, it flies in the face of the male-centered and monogamous American cultural norms. So, a man sexually sharing his wife with another man through cuckolding often comes with a negative connotation in the US. For some, that forbidden feeling can be a major turn-on, and actually increase popularity.

Even the term "cuck" has historically been used to mock men whose wives are unfaithful. And yet the term is slowly being reimagined as a descriptor of just another form of sexual expression.

Meanwhile, “cuckold” has become a top search term for many porn sites. It seems as though, whether in fantasy or reality, many men like the idea of another man with their wife.

As with any sexual behavior, there are no simple answers to the psychology behind cuckoldry. For some men, it’s a way of exploring bi-sexuality at a distance — through making their wife’s body accessible to another man. That’s why some men like to interact indirectly with another man for example, performing oral sex on their wife after she’s had sex with a bull. Some men actively enjoy selecting a man for their  partner. Others get a thrill from sharing their wife.

Intriguingly, the few studies into this phenomenon that have been conducted suggest that the cuckolding fantasy is more prevalent within more conservative circles. Those are the ones in which notions of being a “real man” are intimately connected with those of spousal fidelity. It’s been argued that cuckoldry provides a welcome release from the burdens of having to live out this alpha-male role, or meet the social expectations it entails.

Is cuckoldry about to go mainstream? Cuckolding fantasies appear to be so prevalent, could they be on the verge of being normative?

While I think the interest and participation in cuckold will continue to grow, I'm not sure it's ready for prime time. It takes an incredible amount of emotional strength and that's not something that is the norm. You have to be incredibly secure in your relationship.
